Pose a Challenge

We are inviting the scientific community to pose challenges using CRACK IT.

These challenges should be ideas or problems within your research area that if solved would reduce the use of animals or improve animal welfare. By submitting your challenge via CRACK IT you will engage a wide community of international scientists providing an opportunity for innovative thinking and the chance to shape technologies and products in development to meet your needs as the end user.

To submit a challenge you will need to register and complete a form describing the background to your challenge, the need for collaboration, the 3Rs benefit of a solution and some key deliverables or technological specifications. The NC3Rs will then work with you to develop a challenge proposal that can be showcased on the CRACK IT website and through relevant scientific networks. This should provide you with a selection of potential partners to work with, either in validating a solution that already exists or developing a new solution. Before submitting a challenge, we recommend you read the guidance.

It is expected that the poser will engage in a true collaboration and therefore provide an incentive for a partner to work with them. This could range from in-kind contributions such as data, compound sets, bench space or in vivo research to complement an in vitro project, through to a financial incentive.

To see examples of the types of challenges already submitted visit our challenge listings page.
