CRACK IT is a new initiative from the NC3Rs which builds on its current funding schemes and Centre-led programmes. CRACK IT has been designed to reach new audiences and sectors and marks a departure from previous ways of working. However, the overall goal of the NC3Rs, to use the 3Rs to support science, innovation and animal welfare in the biosciences, remains at the heart of CRACK IT.

Funding for research is dependent on the amount the NC3Rs is allocated by the UK government. Allocation between the NC3Rs various research funding streams will be determined on an annual basis. Future research budget allocation will be determined on an annual basis.

Only the names of organisations posting challenges or sharing solutions will be available on the website. No personal details or email addresses will be available without approval from the NC3Rs and yourself.

Only the NC3Rs will have access to your details, and will keep this confidential. Individuals’ contact details will only be passed to posers, crackers or solution sharers who have agreed to be put in touch with each other.

CRACK IT is a unique opportunity to access the global biosciences community in multiple sectors, connect with like minded innovators, form new collaborations and accelerate the translation of research ideas into practice. You need to register to access the full functionality of CRACK IT.

No. Only active scientists working in Higher Education Institutions, Hospital/NHS trusts, Research Council establishments, charity laboratories and industry are eligible to register with CRACK IT. Only EU based organisations are eligible to receive funding under the CRACK IT Challenges competition, however organisations from any region are able to pose or crack other challenges, or share orphan solutions.
